This pilgrimage to Italy on the occasion of the Youth Jubilee in Rome is organized in collaboration with the Diocese of Hearst- Moosonee. They are happy to open this pilgrimage to all those who wish to join them.
Travel to Italy with Spiritours to take part in the Youth Jubilee, a major gathering of young people from all over the world around the Pope. It’s also a pilgrimage, a celebration of youth, an expression of the universal Church and an intense moment of evangelization for the world of young people.
Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati will be canonized during the Youth Jubilee, on Sunday August 3, 2025.
DEPARTURE FROM MONTREAL: Overnight international flight from Montreal to Venice with a connection in Toronto.
Arrival at Venice Airport. Transfer by motorcoach to Florence. Overnight in Florence. Accommodation: OSPITALITA SALESIANI or similar religious house.
This morning, guided tour of Florence, prestigious heir to the Renaissance, former capital of the Medici family. In this unique city of art, we will discover the “Santa Maria del Fiore” square with the Cathedral, Giotto’s Campanile, one of the most remarkable in Italy, and the Baptistery of Saint John the Baptist with its three portals adorned with beautifully decorated bronze doors. Not forgetting the city’s most famous bridge, the Ponte Vecchio, the oldest with its small goldsmith shops. Free afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Florence. After breakfast, departure for Siena, an exceptional city with a historic center classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as it perfectly embodies the Italian medieval city. All the narrow streets lead us to the city’s main architectural work: the Piazza del Campo in the shape of a scallop shell. During the guided tour, discover the birthplace of Saint Catherine of Siena and the city’s two symbolic silhouettes: the Tower of the Communal Palace and the Dome (Santa Maria Assunta), impressive in its size. Its decoration is entirely covered with alternating bands of light and dark marble. Then, the Basilica San Domenico Cateriniana located in the district of Saint Catherine’s birth, the most important church in Siena. Lunch (not included) on site. Continue to Assisi. Dinner and overnight in Assisi. Accommodation: Suore Francescane Angeline or similar religious house.
In the morning, guided tour of the village of Assisi, starting with the Basilica of Santa Chiara, where the body of Saint Clare, Saint Francis’ first female disciple, rests, to the Basilica of Saint Francis, which houses the Tomb of Saint Francis. Mass at Saint Mary of the Angels and visit of the Porziuncola Chapel. Free lunch. Free afternoon to stroll through other corners of the village of Assisi and its surroundings, meditate in its magnificent churches, buy souvenirs, or simply relax! Dinner and overnight in Assisi. Accommodation: Suore Francescane Angeline or similar religious house.
Optional: Visit to the Eremo delle Carceri, an ancient Franciscan site on Mount Subasio, 4 km from Assisi and 800 m above sea level. It is one of the Franciscan sanctuaries guarded by the Friars Minor of the Seraphic Province of Saint Francis of Assisi. It is here that Francis, his companions, and, after them, the friars came for limited periods of prayer. Various buildings have been added around the original cave and oratory, creating a large complex. Mass at the Eremo delle Carceri. Free time in Assisi. Overnight in Assisi.
