CHRISTIAN PILGRIMAGES
Experience an exceptional pilgrimage that takes in three great European nations and three world-famous shrines: Our Lady of Lourdes, Santiago de Compostela and Our Lady of Fatima. The route follows the coastal path (camino del norte), skirting the Atlantic Ocean with its landscapes of cliffs, beaches, fishing ports and vineyards. Those wishing to do so can walk the last ten kilometers of this route to Compostela. You’ll also have the chance to visit the beautiful city of Porto, birthplace of the eponymous wine, Tomar with its emblematic castle, and Lisbon, the beautiful Portuguese capital. Along the way, you’ll discover a wealth of heritage, cultural and religious sites. Part of the proceeds from this trip will go to support the Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation.
*Associated tour in collaboration with Télévision Sel et Lumière.

Jean-Luc was born in Lemieux, Centre-du-Québec. He trained at the Grand-Séminaire de Québec. A priest since 2000, he was curate at Nicolet cathedral parish (2000-2003); pastor of Chesterville and collaborator in Arthabaska (2003-2006); pastor of St-Nicéphore for eleven years. He is currently pastor of St-François-d’Assise parish in Drummondville and St-Luc parish. Jean-Luc is a smiling man who loves people and wants to work with them in all aspects of their lives. What makes him so happy is witnessing someone who realizes how much God loves them and cares about their fulfillment. He has been accompanying pilgrimages since 2002, and these experiences nourish him deeply.
Working in the socio-economic development and social economy sector for over 20 years, Mireille has a degree in communications and public relations. Her organizational and interpersonal skills led her to specialize in project management and partnership relations. She was actively involved in Catholic youth groups in Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean, her native region, as well as on her arrival in Montreal. She was fortunate enough to experience a mission in Haiti. More recently, she accompanied a group in 2023 to the World Forum on the Social Economy in Dakar, Senegal. She is delighted to be able to combine her desire to travel, deepen her faith and accompany Spiritours pilgrims.

Morning Mass followed by lunch. In the afternoon, walk in the footsteps of Bernadette Soubirous, the little girl of Lourdes who, for more than a century and a half, has “connected the world.” Visit her dungeon, her father’s house, the Boly Mill, and the St. Bernadette Hospice. Rest of the day is free. Dinner, followed by the Marian procession at 9:00 p.m. (lasting up to 1½ hours) and overnight at HOTEL SOLITUDE **** or similar in Lourdes.

Lunch in San Sebastián/La Concha Bay, famous for its Basque cuisine. In the afternoon, we will continue our journey to Santander (2½-hour drive). Dinner and overnight in Santander at HOTEL SANTEMAR or similar.

One of Spain’s most remarkable cities and a major pilgrimage destination since the Middle Ages. Day excursion to Tomar and Batalha. Tomar is a city full of charm thanks to its artistic and cultural richness (a Spiritours favorite!), while Batalha is known for the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória, more commonly known as the Monastery of Batalha. This monument has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was built to commemorate the Portuguese victory over the Castilians at the Battle of Aljubarrota in 1385. The construction of the monastery was a two-century-long project for the Portuguese monarchy, developing an original national Gothic style, influenced by the early Renaissance, with the royal cloister being the perfect illustration. Return to Fatima. Option to participate in the 9:00 p.m. procession. Dinner and overnight in Fatima (B/D).
Free morning. Afternoon departure to Lisbon. Dinner and overnight in Lisbon (B/D).
This morning, discover the Jerónimos Monastery, an absolute masterpiece that reflects the opulence of the age of great discoveries. Afternoon walking tour of Lisbon, including the Avenue of Liberty and Baixa – a section of the city that was entirely rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake. Then, an essential stop to taste the famous Pastéis de Nata, those little Portuguese pastries! Free evening. Dinner and overnight in Lisbon (B/D).
After an early breakfast, transfer to Lisbon Airport for your return flight to Montreal.

“I found the organization of Spiritours excellent. The places visited, the hotels, the food, the exchanges with other pilgrims were all very satisfying. The guide was able to captivate me with her comments on the history of the area, and was always ready to answer questions. In closing, I must underline the extraordinary work of the Spiritours guide. She showed great interpersonal skills and patience.
