Follow the footsteps of Jesus in an amazing journey to the Holy Land. Trace the roots of Christian tradition as you cross desert and mountains to the cities of Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Nazareth. Yesterday and today come together in this unique opportunity to deeply connect to the teachings of Christ through the land where he lived.
HIGHLIGHTS:
He is, until now, the youngest priest in the Diocese of Montreal. He was ordained during the pandemic in October 2020. He did his internship at Jesus-Light-of-World parish and he is currently assistant priest at Saint-Luke parish. This is his second trip to the Holy Land, he is very excited to go with you to pray and discover these holy places that have forged our history of salvation.
She has been a licensed guide in Israel for over 35 years, and has been guiding and accompanying groups in the Middle East and Europe. Born in Holland she has travelled throughout the world and lived in Africa, South America and Europe and is fluent in 6 languages.
Departure from Montreal to Tel Aviv with Air Canada (with a stopover in Toronto).
In the afternoon arrival in Tel Aviv and transfer to our hotel.Overnight in Tiberias.
Today we will visit Nazareth, where Jesus spent the first 30 years of his life (John 2:1-11). At the time a little unknown village, today Nazareth is one of the largest Arab cities in Israel. We will begin our day with a visit of Nazareth Village, an open air Museum that reconsctructs and reenacts village life in Galilee in the time of Jesus. Here we will enjoy a typical 1st century Galillean meal. In the afternoon we will visit the Church of the Annunciation and Cana. Overnight in Tiberias.
This morning we will visit the Mt. Of Beatitudes, the traditional site of the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7), with its beautiful view over the lake. Continue towards Tabgha, to the Church of the Primacy (John 21). We will then drive to Capernaum. Visit the synagogue, Visit the synagogue where Jesus most certainly taught and worshipped (Matt.4: 13; Mark 3:1, 8:5 and 14), the house of St. Peter and view the ruins from the village of the “Town of Jesus». We will enjoy end the day with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Overnight in Tiberias.
Visit of the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish. From here will drive up North, to one of the sources of the Jordan River, Banyas, also known as Caesarea Philipi, where Jesus revealed himself to Simon and changed his name to Peter after asking “Who do the people say is the Son of Man?” (Matt. 16:13). Finally we will visit Magdala, the hometown of Mary Magdalene. Overnight in Tiberias.
We will then drive through the Jordan Valley, to the Jordan River on the border with Jordan, where John the Baptist baptized Jesus. Followed by a visit of Jericho, the oldest city in the world that has existed for about 10,000 years. Jericho was also the scene of the Healing of a blind man (Mark 10:46-52) and the Conversion of Zaccheus (Luke 19:1-10). We will, then, proceed though the Judean desert to Jerusalem. Overnight in Jerusalem.
A short drive will bring us to Bethlehem, the birthplace of King David and Jesus (Matt. 1: 18-25; Luke 2:1-7). The city is inhabited by one of the oldest Christian communities in the world. There we will visit the Church of the Nativity and the Shepherd’s fields. In the afternoon, we will visit the Pater Noster grotto on Mt. of Olives, where Jesus taught the Lord’s prayer to his disciples. Overnight in Jerusalem.
Short drive to Mt. of Olives, the site of the Ascension of Jesus, (Acts 1:9-12), with its beautiful view over the golden city of Jerusalem and then we will walk down towards Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed in Agony (Matt. 26:30). Visit the Garden of Gethsemane, the Church of All Nations. We will then drive to the Western Wall, followed by Mt. Zion, where we will visit the Cenacle, (Last Supper Room) (Matt. 26:26-30), and the Church of Peter in Gallicantu. Overnight in Jerusalem.
We will begin our day with a visit of the Bethesda Pools. In John 5, Jesus was reported healing a man at the pool. View the St Anne Church, an impressive crusaders structure with amazing acoustics.We will then continue along the Way of Cross until the Holy Sepulchre or Church of the Resurrection, site of the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Overnight in Jerusalem.
Today we drive to the Mediterranean Sea to visit the ancient city of Caesarea, one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Israel: a theater, city center and aqueduct. Back in Jerusalem we will visit Ein Karem, the birthplace of John the Baptist. Overnight in Jerusalem.
Today we will enjoy a view over the Judean Desert and float in Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Afternoon at leisure in Jerusalem. Overnight in Jerusalem.
Departure to Ben Gurion airport for your flight to Montreal.
