It is with great joy and pride that we announce the canonization of Blessed Marie-Léonie Paradis, which will take place on October 20. This news is a landmark event for our community, as Marie-Léonie Paradis embodies values that resonate deeply with our mission and beliefs.
A Life of Dedication and Service
Born on May 12, 1840 in L’Acadie, Quebec, Marie-Léonie Paradis, whose birth name was Élodie Paradis, dedicated her life to the service of others. At the age of 14, she entered the Sisters of Holy Cross, where she developed a vocation marked by concern for the welfare and education of young people.
Her life took a significant turn when she founded the Congrégation des Petites Sœurs de la Sainte-Famille in 1880. The main mission of this congregation was to support the clergy with domestic and administrative tasks, enabling priests to devote themselves fully to their pastoral ministry. This altruistic and visionary gesture testifies to his profound sense of community and collaboration.
Inspiring values
Marie-Léonie Paradis is a model of unshakeable faith, dedication and simplicity. She sees greatness in the little things, humbly offering her daily service as an act of faith and love. Here are just a few of the values she embodied that we wish to honor:
- Humility: She always worked in the shadows, preferring God’s recognition to that of men. Her humility is a reminder of the importance of serving others without expecting reward.
- Service: Her whole life was dedicated to serving others, especially the clergy and the poor. His example invites us to put our talents and resources at the service of our community.
- Faith and Perseverance: Despite challenges and trials, Marie-Léonie Paradis never wavered in her faith. She teaches us to persevere and trust in divine providence.
- Simplicity: She has always lived simply and austerely, focusing on the essentials. This simplicity is an invitation to lead a life stripped of the superfluous, focused on spiritual and human values.
The Living Legacy of Marie-Léonie Paradis
The canonization of Marie-Léonie Paradis is not only a recognition of her virtues, but also an opportunity for us to reflect on how we can integrate these values into our daily lives. At Spiritours, we strive to follow this example by offering journeys that nourish the soul and strengthen the community.
We invite you to celebrate this canonization with us and to meditate on the legacy of Marie-Léonie Paradis, committing ourselves to live with greater faith, humility and dedication.
With gratitude and joy,
Anne Godbout
