Highlights
The plus

Born in Haiti on November 8, 1966, he was ordained a priest in the Congregation of Holy Cross in October 2002. He holds a doctorate in Practical Theology (Master’s degree from the University of Montreal and a doctorate from Laval University). He has been working at Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal since May 2007 and has held the position of Director of the Welcome and Pilgrimages Office since August 2010.

An artist with diverse interests but also passionate about human relations, Valérie particularly excels as a facilitator and group leader. As a guide and escort, she is especially comfortable in the context of pilgrimages since her deep faith and spiritual experience are the central elements that give meaning to her life. Originally from Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean, a part of her heart remains there, and it is a pleasure for her when she has the opportunity to showcase her beautiful region and the very welcoming population that inhabits it.
Departure from Montreal for São Paulo. Arrival in São Paulo during the night, transfer to your accommodation. Overnight.
Free time to rest after the flight. Around noon, start of the city tour: the visit begins with Ibirapuera Park, São Paulo’s main green space, featuring the Obelisk, the Monument to the Flags, and several works by Niemeyer (MAC, Oca pavilion). In the evening, Mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral of São Paulo (*Sé*). This Mass is a solemn and deeply spiritual liturgical experience, located in the heart of the historic center. It combines faith, tradition, and culture, with impressive neo-Gothic architecture, magnificent stained-glass windows, and majestic vaults. The homily offers biblical reflections adapted to contemporary city life, and the organ, one of the largest in Latin America, accompanies the hymns, enriching the spiritual experience. Attending this Mass is both an act of faith and a journey through the history and culture of São Paulo.
Start the day with the sung Mass at the São Bento Monastery, famous for its Benedictine monks and Gregorian chant. The monastery, founded in 1598, is an architectural marvel with its stained-glass windows and frescoes. The visit continues through the Jardins neighborhoods, the Nossa Senhora do Brasil church, Batman Alley with its graffiti, Paulista Avenue, and the main monuments of the historic center.
Private transfer to Campinas and visit the Sanctuary of Mary, Undoer of Knots (Marie Délieuse des Nœuds), a Marian pilgrimage site highly appreciated for its beauty and atmosphere of contemplation. The faithful come seeking guidance and comfort from the image of Mary, representing the act of undoing the knots of daily life. Return to São Paulo at the end of the day.
Private transfer to Aparecida and visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Aparecida, the largest Catholic temple in Brazil, and a major pilgrimage site. The basilica is impressive for its size and grandeur, with vast spaces for prayer and celebrations. The Museum of Miracles, located next door, displays objects and testimonies of miracles attributed to the intercession of Our Lady, offering a fascinating look at popular faith and devotion.
Free day (without transportation) to enjoy the sanctuary and a time of spiritual retreat.
Visit the Christ the Redeemer and participate in the Mass at the Sanctuary of Christ the Redeemer. The statue, perched 710 meters high on Corcovado Mountain, is an official sanctuary of the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro. With arms open over the city, the site offers a sacred setting for prayer and reflection. Mass takes place in the Chapel of Our Lady of Aparecida at the base of the statue, offering a rare moment of grace, gratitude, and spiritual renewal.
Visit Sugarloaf Mountain, accessible by two cable cars to the 395-meter summit. Discover the historic center of Rio with its centuries-old buildings and streets, Praça XV de Novembro, Praça Cinelândia, and the Carioca Aqueduct (*Arcos de Lapa*). Exploration of the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa, its winding streets, colorful buildings, and panoramic views of Guanabara Bay. Visit the Parque das Ruínas, descend the Selarón Steps, and discover iconic sites such as the Confeitaria Colombo, the Palácio Tiradentes, Praça XV, Travessa do Comércio, and the former residence of Carmen Miranda, as well as various churches and cultural centers.
Early morning departure for the ascent of Djebel Moussa (Mount Moses or the Mountain of God) at dawn (optional). Visit Saint Catherine’s Monastery: the basilica, the icon exhibition in the narthex, Jethro’s well, and the Chapel of the “Burning Bush,” the holiest place in the monastery where pilgrims must take off their shoes before entering, in memory of God’s word to Moses. Lunch at the restaurant. Drive towards Ras Zafarana, a small port on the Gulf of Suez, dinner and overnight.
