The Lord said to Abraham, “Go from your country, your people, and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1). Embark on a walking pilgrimage through history and breathtaking landscapes, contributing to building a world that has overcome fear and hostility to create hope and hospitality. Take a grand hike through the Judean Desert, plains, and olive fields, covering a portion of the Path of Abraham and the entire “Gospel Trail” between Nazareth and Capernaum, following in the footsteps of Jesus. An experiential adventure, connecting with local communities and biblical history.

– Visit the St. George Monastery in the Wadi Qelt canyon.
– Walk in the footsteps of Jesus in Galilee.

    Father Alain Mongeau

    Father Alain Mongeau is the Episcopal Vicar in the deaneries of the central region of the Diocese of Montreal for the animation of French-speaking communities. As a diocesan priest, Father Alain Mongeau serves as the pastor of the parishes of Saint-Jean-Baptiste and Saint-Denis. He is deeply involved with the Faith and Mission School, which brings together young adults, students, and workers. Additionally, he is passionate about the Middle East and inter-church dialogue among different Christian denominations.

    Visit the old town of Bethlehem, the city of David, with the Basilica and the Cave of the Nativity, the Church of Saint Catherine, and Manger Square. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Bethlehem.

  • DAY 3 | TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2024 | BETHLEHEM – JERICHO – SEA LEVEL (6 hours of walking)

    Transfer through the Wadi Qelt Valley to the ruins of Herod’s winter palace in Jericho, the starting point for the day on the Abraham Path. The valley gradually turns into a canyon with splendid panoramic views. The trail leads to the Choziba Monastery of St. George, built on a cliff. Visit the Orthodox monastery chapel with its beautiful icons. You will arrive at the Sea Level Bedouin camp, where you can spend the night. Dinner and overnight with the Bedouins at Sea Level community.

  • DAY 4 | WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2024 | SEA LEVEL – MAR SABA – TEL AL QAMAR (6 hours of walking)

    Transfer to Khirbet el Mird, today’s starting point. Stop at Nebi Musa, the tomb of Moses. Hike through desert landscapes. The trail plunges into a canyon and ascends to the magnificent Mar Saba Monastery. Continue to Tal Al Qamar. Dinner and overnight at the Tel Al Qamar desert camp.

  • DAY 5 | THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2024 | TEL AL QAMAR – BENI NAIM (6 hours of walking)

    Transfer from Tel al Qamar to Rashaydeh and start walking from there to Bani Naim. Continue your trek through the Jerusalem desert on hills offering magnificent views of the surrounding desert. Civilization gradually reappears, and the land becomes more cultivated and populated as you approach Beni Naim, the first suburb of Hebron. Dinner and overnight with local families in Bani Naim.

  • DAY 6 | FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2024 | BENI NAIM – HEBRON (10 km)

    Transfer to Hebron, the largest city in the West Bank, with a stop at the Oak of Mamre. Visit the famous Cave of the Patriarchs, a monument built over tombs attributed to the biblical patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and their wives. Tour the old town and its souks. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Bethlehem.


    Arrive in Nazareth and settle into the peaceful atmosphere of the old-world Fauzi Azar Inn, a restored 18th-century Arab mansion filled with painted ceilings and marble floors. Relax with sweet mint tea in the common room and meet other travelers. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Nazareth.

  • DAY 8 | SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2024 | NAZARETH – CANA (16.5 km)

    Enjoy a traditional Arab breakfast consisting of fresh pita bread, salads, cheeses, and eggs. Bring water and a picnic with you – the rest of your luggage will be transferred to your accommodation. Leave the old town and arrive at Zippori National Park to explore the archaeological ruins of the main administrative city of Galilee during Jesus’ time. Admire the exquisite Byzantine mosaics, enjoy the view from the top of the Crusader fortress, and stroll through the ancient cistern system. Take a lunch break and replenish water before resuming the trail through the small village of Mashhad to reach Cana, the traditional site of Jesus’ first miracle. Visit the Orthodox and Catholic churches commemorating the water-into-wine miracle. Have a home-cooked meal with your hosts. Night at Fauzi Azar in Nazareth.

  • DAY 9 | MONDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2024 | CANA – KIBBUTZ LAVI (14.4 km)

    Wake up early for a hearty breakfast and some stretches before leaving Cana to walk along a forested ridge with a peaceful view of the valley. Pass by the entrance to an IDF military base and have a light snack at the “omelette house” with the soldiers. Cross another forest, climb a pleasant hill scattered with ruins, to arrive at Kibbutz Lavi, one of the very few religious Jewish kibbutzim in the country. Enjoy the pool and peaceful park and a kosher buffet in the dining room. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Lavi.

  • DAY 10 | TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2024 | KIBBUTZ LAVI – ARBEL (18.1 km)

    Have your breakfast and set out through farmlands to climb the Horns of Hattin, a volcanic structure where a famous Crusader battle took place. Enjoy your first glimpse of the Sea of Galilee and panoramic views of the Arbel Valley. Continue on the rocky hill to Nebi Shu’eib, the holiest shrine in the Druze religion. Visit the tomb of Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, and take a break at the picnic area. Don’t forget to fill your water bottle! After lunch, continue on the trail through the Arbel Valley, passing ancient olive groves and the ruins of the village of Hattin. Exit the valley to Moshav Arbel, where you will stay in charming rustic cabins and dine on-site with your hosts. Dinner and overnight at Arbel Holiday Homes.


    Start early for the beautiful morning light from the cliffs of Arbel. Descend carefully down the steep trail of the mountain, passing by ancient dwellings and caves in the cliffs. Drink from the fresh spring of Wadi Hamam before continuing to Tabgha through rolling farmlands. Explore the mosaics of Tabgha, the traditional site of the feeding of the 5,000. Continue around the north side of the Sea of Galilee to visit the Church of St. Peter. Climb a small ridge to visit the Mount of Beatitudes, the traditional site of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. Conclude your journey in Capernaum by exploring the ruins of the city that was the center of Jesus’ ministry and spending a moment of prayer in the church built above the house of Simon Peter. Meet the shuttle for transportation to Tiberias. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Tiberias.

  • DAY 12 | THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2024 | CAPERNAUM – JERUSALEM (210 km)

    Transfer to Jerusalem. Stroll through the Old City to the Western Wall. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Jerusalem.


    Walk to the Mount of Olives, visit the Basilica of Agony, and the Garden of Gethsemane. Stations of the Cross to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (Anastasis).


    Depart by bus to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport for your return flight home.
