    Christian Lépine, Mgr

    Mgr Lépine has long experience as a pastor and teacher. Ordained to the priesthood in 1983 at Saint-André-Apôtre, he first exercised his priestly ministry at Saint-Joseph du Mont-Royal before studying philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome from 1986 to 1989. On his return to Montreal, he was appointed vicar at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges and parish priest at Saint-Joseph du Mont-Royal. He remained there until 1996, when he was appointed head of Cardinal Jean-Claude Turcotte’s Secretariat. In 1998, he was called to Rome, where he worked at the Secretariat of State, then at the Congregation for Divine Worship. Returning to Montreal in 2000, he was appointed Director of the Major Seminary. From 2006 to 2012, he was pastor of the parishes of La Purification de la Bienheureuse-Vierge-Marie and Notre-Dame-des-Champs, where he remained until his ordination as auxiliary bishop on September 10, 2011. On March 20, 2012, he was named Archbishop of Montreal by Pope Benedict XVI. Archbishop Lépine is the tenth bishop of Montréal and the eighth archbishop since the. founding of the diocese in 1836.

    Flight from Montreal to Rome.

  • DAY 2 | WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 2025: ROME

    Arrival in Rome and transfer to accommodation. Check-in at the hotel. Orientation tour of the city including Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, and the Trevi Fountain. Free evening. Overnight in Rome. Accommodation: Hotel Ergife

  • DAY 3 | THURSDAY, MAY 8, 2025: ROME

    In the morning, you will attend a private Audience with Pope Francis in the Aula Paolo VI hall. Free lunch. In the afternoon, Mass at the Basilica of St. John Lateran followed by a free visit to the Basilica. This is the oldest and first of the four major basilicas in Rome. Its architecture is impressive, with a main facade adorned with columns and sculptures. One of the most remarkable features of the basilica is its main altar, which houses relics from the table used at the Last Supper. Reception in the evening and overnight in Rome.   • DAY 4 | FRIDAY, MAY 9, 2025: ROME

    JUBILEE OF THE MARTYRS AT THE COLOSSEUM Morning: Private Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica (if possible in the crypt), followed by a guided tour of St. Peter’s Basilica, the tombs of the popes, and the Vatican Museums. Free lunch. Afternoon: Celebration of the Jubilee of the Martyrs at the Colosseum, in the presence of Pope Francis. Free evening. Overnight in Rome. Accommodation: Hotel Ergife

  • DAY 5 | SATURDAY, MAY 10, 2025: ROME

    Free morning and early afternoon to explore Rome. 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm: Closing Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary Major, one of the four major basilicas of the city and one of the five patriarchal basilicas. The basilica was founded in the 4th century and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. According to tradition, it was built where the Virgin appeared to a wealthy Roman couple, asking them to build a church in her honor. One of the most impressive features of the basilica is its magnificent 6th-century mosaic depicting scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary and Christ. This mosaic is one of the oldest and largest of its kind in Rome. Free evening. Overnight in Rome. Accommodation: Hotel Ergife

  • DAY 6 | SUNDAY, MAY 11, 2025: ROME – CASTEL GANDOLFO – ROME

    Private Mass at the chapel of the religious house or a concelebration in an Italian parish. Then, depart by private coach for Castel Gandolfo, the summer residence of the popes. Visit the Papal Palace and its beautiful gardens (observatory visit not included) and explore the charming cobbled streets of the town, with a breathtaking view of the lake and surrounding hills. Return to Rome in the late afternoon. Overnight in Rome. Accommodation: Hotel Ergife

  • DAY 7 | MONDAY, MAY 12, 2025: ROME – ASSISI – ROME

    Day excursion to Assisi. Depart by private coach for a day in Assisi, the birthplace of Saint Francis. Located on a picturesque hill, Assisi is a renowned pilgrimage site. Guided tour of the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as the Duomo di San Rufino. Walk through the medieval streets of the town. Mass at the Basilica of Saint Francis (to be confirmed). Return to Rome in the late afternoon. Overnight in Rome. Accommodation: Hotel Ergife

  • DAY 8 | TUESDAY, MAY 13, 2025: ROME – MONTE CASSINO – ROME

    Travel by private minibus to Monte Cassino. Visit the Abbey of Monte Cassino, built in 529 by Saint Benedict of Nursia. It is one of the two largest monasteries in Italy. Mass celebration at the abbey. Return to Rome for dinner and overnight. Accommodation: Hotel Ergife

  • DAY 9 | WEDNESDAY, MAY 14, 2025: ROME

    In the morning, free visit and Mass at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls and St. John Lateran, then visit the Abbey of Tre Fontane, located at the site where Saint Paul was beheaded. Afternoon free to explore the city at your own pace, relax, or shop. Overnight in Rome. Accommodation: Hotel Ergife

  • DAY 10 | THURSDAY, MAY 15, 2025: ROME – MONTREAL

    Transfer to the airport, return flight to Montreal.
